"I see you in there."
— Woody when looking into the camera.

Woody is a semi-recurring (formerly main) character in SML. He is a fan version of the main protagonist in the Toy Story franchise (and like Shrek, and most other SML characters, the character has no relation to their animated doppelganger). Woody served as the main protagonist of his own series called Shrimpo Hunter.

Woody is known for going crazy over shrimp, and pronouncing the word "shrimpo", being a reference to the 1996 movie Dunston Checks In. Many people remember Woody as one of the main characters of the SuperMarioLogan show. He is sometimes considered an early-generation character due to his main appearance before. His role as a main character was lost due to the demand for more videos starring Jeffy and Junior. As of now, it is currently unknown if he will regain his status as a main character.

However, Woody was going to return as a human puppet along with Shrek as confirmed by Logan in one of Chilly's vlogs.[2]

He indeed returned in "Shrek's Endless Cheesecake!," still in doll form however. He was made into a news anchor in "The Power Outage!", and lived in The Forgotten Character Dungeon in "Brooklyn Guy Gets Fired!", although non-canonically. It is possible Logan abandoned the idea of turning Woody and Shrek into puppets as he likely felt he didn't need to worry about a Cease and Desist from Pixar or DreamWorks.

He returned once again in "Goodman's Bodyguard!" auditioning to be Mr. Goodman's bodyguard. Goodman thought that he was a mental patient and didn't wannt to hire him, so he left.

Personality[]

Woody is outgoing, intelligent, gentle, easygoing, and hard-working when compared to other characters such as Shrek or Tony.

Woody has a vast knowledge of outdoor-related things, such as survival and hunting. He also has a lot of information on Shrimpos (and their various counterparts) and devotes his life to hunting, killing and eating them.

Woody can do impulsive things, such as jumping out of a car to catch a Shrimpo (leaving Chef Pee Pee to crash).

Woody is an alcoholic, as seen in "The Big Thanksgiving", and much of early 2008. He is also addicted to crack, according to Mario in Yoshi's Cousin.

Woody is very kind, humble, calm, and helpful to his friends in need.

Appearance[]

Woody has brown eyes, brown eyebrows, with brown hair. He wears a bandana with a yellow and red lines. He has a white vest with black spots. He has a Sheriff's badge, a belt, blue pants, and brown boots.

In the early 2000's, Woody moved to Florida, during that time he owned a local pet shop, and during that time he met Tony the Tiger there and Mr. Pig, who would later get adopted by Mario, who eventually made Woody live with him.

In "The Asteroid!", Woody saved the world from a giant shrimp on a collision course with Earth. He flew up to the shrimp, ate through to the center, and planted a bomb in it. He was thought to be dead until he landed near Mario's house and says, "I killed that big bastard. Chewy Boy!"

Trivia[]

  • Logan has said that Woody won't have any major roles in the videos besides new Shrimpo Hunter videos as revealed in a live stream with Dabhdude.
  • Out of the main characters, Woody has appeared in the least amount of Thanksgiving specials.
  • From 2010 onwards, Woody is portrayed by a different toy/figurine. It has an open mouth as opposed to one with a large grin, and its hands are plastic instead of the fabric hands he initially had.
  • The Woody doll used from 2010-present is the Disney Pixar Toy Story 3 Playtime Sheriff Woody by Thinkway Toys which is based on the Toy Story Collection Woody released in 2009. There are some minor differences such as the former lacks paint detail on the hair. While the one used in older videos (i.e. American Idol series) is the Disney Toy Story 2 Woody Plush Doll which was only released in the Disney Store back in 2000.
  • Woody makes a small cameo during a flashback sequence in "WE GOT 1,000,000 SUBSCRIBERS!".
  • Woody has made minor appearances in the videos in 2016 such as "Life is Ruff!" and "Jeffy Loses His Teeth!".
  • Woody drives a GMC Sierra as seen in "Life Is Ruff!" and "Jeffy Loses His Teeth!". The same truck was later shown in "Jeffy's Sister Returns!" when Feebee got ran over, which it was speculated that the unnamed truck driver is him due to the truck being the same color as Woody's truck but yet still remains unknown.
  • It was revealed in "Attack Of The Killer Shrimp!" that Woody is no longer a retired shrimpo hunter.
  • Unlike most characters, Woody is not portrayed by a plush, but rather a toy or figurine.
  • Woody's way of eating an Oreo is by setting a shrimpo on top of a normal Oreo and pouring a can of beer onto it.
  • Despite having a hat in the movies, Woody does not wear his hat in the SML universe, except in "A MESSAGE TO ALL YOUTUBERS!!!" and "Super Mario Sluggers Review"
  • According to Logan in a livestream with Dabhdude, Woody is based on his grandfather's voice and personality.
  • According to Lance's Meet the Cast video, the inspiration for the 'Shrimpo' name originates from the 1996 film, Dunston Checks In.
  • He had a whole series about him called Shrimpo Hunter, which was cancelled in 2014.
  • According to Logan Thirtyacre, the main reason why Woody doesn't have frequent appearances is that he claims that the fans don't like him.
    • However, this isn't necessarily true, as numerous fan polls have shown that people enjoy Woody's appearances.
    • Also, Woody's latest videos with a starring role, "Attack of the Killer Shrimp!" and "The Asteroid!" have performed extremely well.
    • He, Toad, Shrek, Tony and Mr. Pig were the costars of SuperMarioLogan, and they rarely appear nowadays.
    • Woody had not made any physical appearances since 2018. It’s currently unknown if he will make any newer appearances in recent videos.
      • He was supposed to be in "Brooklyn Guy Pet Detective!", but he lost to an Instagram poll, so he got replaced by Loan Dolphin.
      • Woody is deemed retired as he had not made an appearance in 5 years.
      • Despite making a cameo appearance in "Broken Up!", he didn’t have a speaking role.
      • Woody had finally returned in "Shrek's Endless Cheesecake!" physically.
  • After Woody hardly appears in any SML video, there are some moments in some videos where a character would imitate his voice to invoke a redneck stereotype. In "Joseph Loses His Hat!", when Joseph finds a cowboy hat, he says "Well, chewy boy, fellers!". And in "Jeffy's Jellyfish!", Jeffy imitates Woody's voice when he caught the Jellyfish (coincidentally because Lance played both characters).
  • There is not a single SML episode to have Woody's name in the title.
  • He, Marvin, Luis, Tony the Tiger Shrek, Lil T, Duggie, and Mr. Goodman are the only characters from the classic era that are still in SML.
    • He, Tony the Tiger, and Shrek are also two of the characters from the classic era that aren't puppets.
  • Woody claims that nobody wants to see him no more in "Brooklyn Guy Gets Fired!".
