"Jeffy's 19th Birthday!" is the 877th episode of SML Movies. Confirmed by Logan on August 15, 2023,[1] it is a continued sequel of Jeffy's 18th Birthday!.

Synopsis[]

It's Jeffy's birthday and it's the first day of school!

Plot[]

Screwball gets a letter from a mysterious person asking him to go to a cabin. There he meets Nancy, who somehow survived the events of Jeffy's 18th Birthday. Screwball wants to leave, but Nancy convinces him to kidnap a whole bus of students, including Jeffy. Meanwhile, Jackie Chu briefly stops the school bus to help a balloon puppy, allowing Screwball to steal the bus with a load of students in it (including Jeffy).

Jackie uses Marvin's phone to call the police and notify them of the kidnapping. The Chief passes this on to Brooklyn T. Guy and Simmons, who find the school bus and chase after it. They run into the school bus, but they sustain a puncture and scrapes to the side. The two decide to roadblock the bus and catch it, but Screwball runs into the cop car, knocking Simmons out.

Nancy pops out and shoots a rocket at the bus, exploding it. Brooklyn Guy sees her and pulls out an Uzi and starts shooting at her until she dies. Brooklyn presumes that the kids are dead, saddening him along with Jeffy's parents. However, Simmons arrives with Jeffy and Penelope, who reveals that he took them out of the bus before it exploded. Screwball gets arrested but escapes thereafter. Everyone decides to shrug it off and go to a strip club.

Development[]

Brooklyn Guy with a real gun shown in Chilly's vlog.

On August 15, 2023, SML director Logan Thirtyacre posted a vlog to his partner Chilly Jimenez's channel announcing that Jeffy's 19th Birthday would be released on August 21, 2023. The video's exact runtime was unknown, but Logan claimed it was longer than its predecessor. He also stated he has hired several people to help with the production of the film with drone shots, a police cruiser, real guns, and much more, stating that this video is to be even more hyped for than its predecessor. Logan and Chilly's brother, Tito, stated that this video has a bigger budget than the prequel, hinting that this was most likely the most expensive SML movie ever made.

In a teaser that Logan showed in the vlog, there seemed to be a never-before-seen puppet. Fans inferred that it might be a senior due to its gray hair on the side of its head. It was later revealed to be a part on the police car and there was no new character, as the camera never focused on Logan's laptop in the teaser.

On August 17, Logan confirmed that he had finished recording one last scene for this episode on Chilly's channel and announced its exact time release three days later with a sneak peek photo.[2][3]

The day after the release, Logan posted a video on Chilly's channel regarding the state of the final cut of Jeffy's 19th Birthday in response to the poor reception. He stated this was not the version he intended to release and had planned to add much more to the video, which he claimed would have lasted over twenty-five minutes. Because of the short deadline, cast and crew availability, as well as mechanical problems regarding the school bus, a lot of things were changed including the removal of several action scenes and dialogue.

Sequel:

Jeffy’s 20th Birthday was released on YouTube on August 21st 2024.

Trivia[]

  • This episode was uploaded a year after "Jeffy's 18th Birthday!", two years after "Jeffy's 17th Birthday!", four years after "Jeffy's Birthday Trip!", and seven years after "Jeffy's Birthday!".
  • This video started filming on August 13th and concluded on August 16th.
  • This marks the third time a character steals a vehicle and leaves another character at a certain location. The other 2 times it occurred was in "Bowser Junior's Stinky Friend!" where Junior picks up the homeless man at McDonald's, steals the car and leaves Chef Pee Pee behind, and "Jeffy's Joyride!" where Junior and Jeffy steal Brooklyn Guy's police car to find Mr. Goodman's blue Lamborghini.
  • Logan has confirmed that this video uses real guns, showing Brooklyn Guy with an Uzi in Chilly's vlog.
  • This video is the 300th video on the current SML channel.
  • This is the second episode to utilize drone shots following "Jeffy's 18th Birthday!".
  • This is the second episode to use a real explosion along with a total destruction of a vehicle following "Jeffy's 18th Birthday!".
  • This video continues following the events of "The Broken Crown!" with Jackie Chu not wearing his crown, due to it being broken.
  • This is Screwball's first appearance since Brooklyn Guy The Liar!.
  • This is Nancy's first appearance in 2023, her first physical appearance since Jeffy's 18th Birthday!, and presumably her final appearance.
    • However, she later returns in "Jeffy's Mother's Day!", only for it to be revealed that it was a dream.
    • She later made an appearance in "Satan Claus!" where her death was proven, and she now works for Craig in hell by cleaning the bathrooms.
  • For some reason, Brooklyn T. Guy makes no comments about it being his birthday too, as he usually does.
  • This is possibly a callback to "Jeffy's Birthday Wish!" where Brooklyn Guy states that he often forgets his own birthday because he works so much.
  • It's likely that Screwball sabotaging Jackie Chu's bus and the events that unfold soon after is a reference to the 1976 Chowchilla school bus kidnapping, as the two events both involve a criminal sabotaging a school bus with multiple children as passengers, and both involved at least one kidnapper wielding firearms (Nancy in the former event's case). However, the two events have many differences:
    • Screwball was the only direct abductor in his case, while the Chowchilla abductions had three kidnappers, all of whom have since then been released from prison.
    • Screwball stole his bus from Jackie Chu before any of the kids even got on, while the three Chowchilla kidnappers sabotaged their bus while their passengers were heading home.
    • While Screwball did not threaten his abductees on the bus, the three kidnappers did with their abductees.
    • The kidnappers of the Chowchilla kidnapping worked together to escape before the police even got the message regarding the kidnapping from the criminals, while Simmons rescued the kids from the bus himself before Screwball and Nancy could fully get to the next phase of their plan.
    • No property was destroyed, and no one was harmed during any part of the Chowchilla kidnappings. However, during the aftermath of Screwball and Nancy's kidnappings, the school bus that Screwball sabotaged was eventually blown up by Nancy sometime after the kids were rescued, and she in turn was the only casualty of the incident, if she is confirmed not to return on Jeffy's 20th birthday.
  • This is the last SML Movie to have a BTS video on Chilly's channel.
  • This is the first and only episode to have Nancy saying her son's grunting noise.
  • This episode is the first and only episode where Nancy indirectly mentioned one of Jeffy's friends and one of Brooklyn Guy's relatives, who is Penelope.
  • Considering Nancy's gunshot wound is open and not treated. it might get infected.
  • This episode states that Jeffy is 19 in the 5th grade. With this sequence, Jeffy will be smart in the year 2031 because that's when he graduates high school.

Errors[]

  • Marvin and Rose say that despite being 19, Jeffy is in 5th grade. But Jeffy is in the same class as Junior and his friends, who are 14 at the time this video was released, and they are still attending elementary school. Although, they may be in 6th grade in the Human Puppet Universe, and they are going off of last year.
  • Brooklyn Guy doesn't seem to know that it was Jeffy's birthday, and questions Marvin if it is his birthday, when he has known in the past that August 21st is Jeffy's birthday. Although, he may have forgotten, considering everything going on.
  • Nancy says that Jeffy shot her in the head, but he actually shot her in the mouth.
  • When Rose tells Jeffy that she missed him, she looks at the ceiling instead of Jeffy, mainly due to Elaina having to voice Penelope moments later.
  • Marvin says that Jeffy has to move out eventually, when in "Jeffy's 18th Birthday!", he told him that he can stay as long as he wants. It is possible he changed his mind, or he is nicely encouraging Jeffy to move out.
  • Brooklyn Guy says that he's out of ammo right before Nancy blows up the school bus, but Brooklyn Guy shoots her with his Uzi after she tries to shoot him and is never seen reloading.
  • When Marvin and Brooklyn Guy head over to the door, Marvin says "Can you go answer the phone with me?", accidentally referring to the door as the phone.
  • It's unknown why Screwball wasn’t in jail, as he was sentenced to a year in prison in Brooklyn Guy The Liar! Which means he would have gotten out of prison on January 14, 2024. Although it is possible that he escaped, or the crew just forgot about it.
