"Jeffy!" is the remake of "Mario the Babysitter!", the 3rd episode of SML Remakes, and the first remade SML video to be featured on the newest SML channel. Instead of using the Nintendo plush characters, they are using the human puppets.
Synopsis[]
Jeffy shows up for the first time!
Plot[]
The episode starts off with Simmons dangling Rose (instead of Bowser in the original version because Bowser has retired from villainy). Marvin then appears, wearing a superhero costume (this one is a regular superhero costume as opposed to the Superman costume Mario wore in the original) and also having long, luscious blonde (as opposed to the original's black) hair (shampooed and conditioned). Simmons then sees Marvin having hair, and is greatly alarmed by it, knowing it is his one true weakness. Simmons is surprised with Marvin's ability to fly, and his gorgeous hair causes Vladimir to flee, but not before tossing Rose into the air. Marvin catches Rose, who thanks Marvin for saving her, but Marvin crashes into a wall, revealing that it was just a dream. Marvin’s dream popped out. There is then a knock at the door.
Marvin answers the door to a kid with a blue helmet who shows Marvin his pencil. The kid reveals his name to be Jeffy, and that it says it on his shirt. Marvin then finds a sticky note on Jeffy's shoulder that says, "Please babysit. -Sorry". Jeffy reveals that his mom dropped him off, and then tries to put the pencil in his nose. Marvin stops Jeffy, telling him not to put the pencil in his nose. Jeffy then asks why, and Marvin replies with, "Because you're going to hurt yourself! Don't do that!" Then Jeffy starts drawing on the doorway with his pencil, but Marvin stops him. Marvin then lets Jeffy into the apartment.
Marvin gets Jeffy gummies and tries feeding him "like a giraffe". Marvin then asks why Jeffy is wearing a diaper on the outside of his pants, and Jeffy explains that "so they won't get dirty,". The diaper is supposed to be in the inside of his pants, but he replied with "So my diaper don't get dirty." When Marvin gets the gummies, Jeffy tries to put a pencil in his nose, then Marvin stops him again.
Marvin calls Rose but finds out that Jeffy actually put his pencil in his nose as well as putting the gummies in his ears. There is a knock on the door and Rose comes in. She brings him a coloring book with crayons. When they come back to the couch, Jeffy disappears - and he is loose in the house. Then they look for Jeffy until Rose finds him in the bathroom. Marvin goes to the bathroom and sees Jeffy having pooped his pants and wrapped in toilet paper while thinking he is a mummy. Marvin then got Jeffy's pants cleaned up and lets Jeffy finish his gummies, but Jeffy starts patting his diaper. Marvin tells Jeffy to stop, but Jeffy won't answer him. Rose then comes in the living room and tells Marvin that the cops are on their way. Marvin and Rose then distract Jeffy by giving him a coloring book. Jeffy tries putting a crayon in his nose, but Marvin having had enough prevents that from happening, then calls Jeffy a bad boy. Jeffy starts to cry and bang his head against the couch, then Marvin and Rose stop him from doing that by saying that he is a "good boy".
When Brooklyn T. Guy (dressed as a cop) arrives, a distressed Marvin shows Jeffy to the cop, but notices he has a crayon in his nose. Marvin then tells the cop that Jeffy likes to put stuff in his nose. The cop then asks Jeffy some questions. Jeffy reveals his full name, "Jeffy Jeffy". He then revealed that he lives on the address of the same name. He then asks what house number Jeffy lived in. He said "7", which reveals he is "Jeffy Jeffy" that lives on "7 Jeffy". Jeffy then drops his pencil out of his hand and starts patting his diaper. When Marvin says "Bad Jeffy", Jeffy hits his helmet and starts crying and bangs his head on the couch. When Marvin and Rose say that he is a good boy, he calmed down. The cop tells Marvin about the "finders keepers, losers weepers" law in which the rule says when they find a child, they would have to take care of them. As the cop leaves, Marvin feels distressed that he "must be dreaming" and "having a nightmare" at the same time. He panics "please wake up!" while hitting on the couch repeatedly.
Marvin suddenly wakes up and finally realized that it was a dream. As the doorbell rings, Marvin answers the door to Jeffy with the crayon in his nose, showing his pencil to him. Marvin then screams in sheer terror, knowing he wasn't really dreaming (the events that played out did happen like they did in the dream), and the episode ends.
Characters[]
- Jeffy
- Marvin
- Rose
- Simmons (dream only)
- Brooklyn T. Guy
- SpongeBob SquarePants (bts cameo)
- Peppa Pig (bts cameo)
- Nancy (indirectly mentioned)
Differences from the original[]
- Bowser is replaced by Simmons in Mario's dream at the beginning of the video. However, this is more due to Lovell not being available for filming than Logan being at risk of copyright. Additionally, the Piranha Plant that was used in the original is absent in the remake.
- In the original, the video was shot at day, but in the remake, it was shot at night.
- Instead of having a Superman outfit and black hair, Mario wears Super D's costume and has blonde hair in the beginning of the remake.
- Mario was sleeping on a SML pillow which was from SMLMerch.com instead of a regular pillow.
- In the original, Mario gave Jeffy Scooby-Doo gummies, while in the remake, Marvin gave Jeffy Welch's gummies instead.
- Jeffy's voice is slightly deeper, due to Lance aging.
- When Mario first calls Rosalina, a split screen is shown with Rosalina and her responses are heard, which was absent in the original.
- The video is made at the new house instead of the apartment.
- Mario and Rosalina are renamed "Marvin” and “Rose" due to their puppets still resembling their original counterparts, to Marvin's disgust.
- Unlike the original, Jeffy cried both times after he asked "Where'd my pencil go?" (he didn't cry when he asked "Where'd my crayon go?").
- This remake is longer than the original video by approximately 2 minutes.
Trivia[]
- This remake was uploaded a year after "Jeffy Goes to Disney World!", six years after "Bowser Junior's Midnight Snack!" and thirteen years after "MARIO AND TONY EASTER SPECIAL".
- This is the second remake to change the title of the original video, with the first being The Koopalings!. This was likely done because videos with Jeffy’s name in the title consistently get more views. But this was also probably decided due to this video being the first SML Movie to be uploaded on SML, and to introduce Jeffy to new viewers.
- This is the first video where Jeffy says, "You said Jeffy's a bad boy?" Since "Jeffy's Pen Pal!". In this video, Jeffy said it in a normal way like he did from "Mario the Babysitter!" to "Jeffy's Bad Christmas!", while in ”Pregnant Jeffy!" and "Jeffy's Pen Pal", he said it more quickly and high-pitched. Jeffy would also say it in his old normal way again in the remake of "Jeffy Sleepwalks!".
- This is the third remake video overall, the first being "Toad's Mistake!", and the second being "SUPER MARIO GOT MILK"
- This is the first remade SML Movie uploaded on the new SML channel. Thus far, it is also the only remake to have a different title than the original.
- As of right now, the video's title is currently the shortest SML Video title in 2021. (6 characters, counting the exclamation point)
- This is the second episode in 2021 to also have a single word as the title.
- This is the first video where Mario and Rosalina are called "Marvin" and "Rose" respectively, due to the names being used by Nintendo, though Mario is a common name for Italians or people with an Italian descent. While Rosalina is a name of a German origin, meaning "gentle horse," and related to the old German name, “Rosalind.” Another reason is that the puppets still resemble their plush counterparts enough that Nintendo could claim Logan is in breach of the cease-and-desist.
- The title is related to other titles that has "Jeffy!" in it, such as Baby Jeffy!, Doctor Jeffy!, Alien Jeffy!, Chef Jeffy!, Detective Jeffy!, Officer Jeffy!, Bad Jeffy!, President Jeffy!, Hurricane Jeffy!, Pregnant Jeffy!, Invisible Jeffy!, Zombie Jeffy!, Gold Jeffy!, Sleepy Jeffy! and Judge Jeffy!.
- This video is what caused dabhdude to quit watching SML videos for the rest of time (at the time of writing this).
- This marks the return of Jeffy's old personality (only in this and possible other remakes that include his old self), though it’s likely only to be faithful to the original.
- The phone call scene breaks the fourth wall, with Rosalina telling Mario that Marvin is his new name and to “just roll with it.”
- This is the third time Jeffy laughs, the first being in "First Day of School!" and the second being "Jeffy and Junior's Gold Play Button!".
- If one doesn't count the Nintendo episodes, this would be season 1 of SML
- This is the debut episode of Jeffy, Marvin, Rose, and Brooklyn Guy.
Errors[]
- Like the original, at the end of the episode, the scribble from earlier in the video was still there, and the yellow crayon is still up his nose, even though it was supposed to be a dream.
