"Cody Goes To Kindergarten!" (stylized as "Cody Goes To KINDERGARTEN" previously known as "Cody Goes To Preschool!") is the 960th episode of SML Movies, the fourth birthday special surrounding Cody, and the first installment of the Cody Goes To Kindergarten Series.

Synopsis

Cody is only 4 years old!

Plot

Cody explains what a leap year is to his class after getting the wrong definition, but they realize that his own birthday is on a leap year and believe that he is only four years old due to its rarity. Jackie Chu disapproves of him in the class due to his age and sends him to kindergarten with Mrs. Fitzpatrick as the teacher, much to Cody’s frustration and hopes that his class dies. When he arrives, he is annoyed and surprised by the ruckus all of the students cause.

After getting annoyed by other students, Cody checks in with Mrs. Fitzpatrick for attendance and befriends a kid named Freddy while playing with building blocks. A troublemaker student, Mikey, comes out of punishment from the teacher and tries to steal Freddy’s apple juice to cause tension. Mrs. Fitzpatrick puts everyone in nap time, and Mikey gets in a loud argument with Cody and awakes the teacher, causing another fight in the classroom.

Mrs. Fitzpatrick introduces Cody to the class, and Mikey throws a block at him and Mrs. Fitzpatrick. She encourages him to befriend the other kids, so he goes to do just that. Cody tries to interact with the kids, but after getting annoyed by them, he goes somewhere else. He befriends a kid named Freddy while playing with building blocks. A troublemaker student, Mikey, comes out of punishment from the teacher and tries to steal Freddy’s apple juice to cause tension. Mrs. Fitzpatrick puts everyone in nap time, and Mikey then gets in a loud argument with Cody that awakes the teacher, causing another fight in the classroom.

At noon, Cody returns home early with an injury from the fight with Mikey and shares with his friends how much he enjoyed his time at kindergarten. He decides not to fight the school or attempt in any way to return to his old classes, then finishes his "homework," and returns home for a nap.

Trivia

• This video was uploaded 8 years after "Cody's Birthday!", 12 years after "The Death of Black Yoshi" and on Leap Day. It also marks the third episode to be uploaded on Leap Day.
• This is the first Cody birthday special to exclusively use the human puppets.
• This is the first video in 2024 to have one character appear in the thumbnail.
• This is the first episode since "Jeffy's Piano Lessons!" where Brooklyn Guy doesn't appear.
• This is the last video of February 2024.
• Logan got the idea for this video in a vlog.
• This episode's plot is similar to the 2002 My Life as a Teenage Robot episode, "I Was a Preschool Dropout". In both episodes, teenagers are sent back to kindergarten after other characters hear that they're technically kindergarten age. And both episode titles incorrectly referred to preschool rather than kindergarten (though in this episode's case, the title was later corrected).
• Daryl was presumed to be the first confirmed autistic character in SML but it was confirmed in Cody Goes To Kindergarten! Part 6 that Daryl was actually faking being autistic the whole time. Jeffy was assumed to be autistic, but Logan stated that he was just dumb.
• This video reveals Clarissa's last name, Fitzpatrick.
• Mikey, the extremely rude and troublesome classmate, likely has his name derived from the infamous Dhar Mann character of the same name, and have similarities such as being blonde and self-centered.
• At 3:00 The blocks spell "Die C*nt".
  • At 8:03, Freddy pronounces "giraffe" the same way Jeffy does. This is probably because either Lance forgot Jeffy only does that, or he thought it's something a toddler would do.
• Anthony used a similar voice as Lemmy from The Koopalings for Mikey.
• Freddy's voice is similar to Mr. Pig's.
• Joseph saying he rather have his birthday on Columbine could be a reference to Lovell who plays Joseph, has his birthday on the Columbine anniversary. Lovell's 4th birthday was on the day of Columbine, the same number used to describe Cody's birthday.
• This is the only Cody Goes To Kindergarten! episode where Jackie Chu appears.
• Although the Kindergarten classroom is Jackie Chu's classroom, this is the last video to have the original classroom design as it was redesign in "Junior's Real Name!" seven months later.

Errors

• In the video, Cody is sent to kindergarten for being only four years old. However, kindergarten is typically for ages 5-6 (some kindergarten classes accept 4-year-old students but this is rare). Despite simply being a mistake by Logan, the original title more accurately said that he is sent to preschool.
• The thumbnail doesn't include an exclamation mark despite having one in the title.
• In the back of the kindergarten classroom there's a star chart with the students' names from Jackie Chu's classroom, which wouldn't make sense for it to be there. This would stay in place for the entirety of the series.
• Mikey speaks while he laughs, due to Freddy pooping.
