Cameel Habib Habab (Cameel as in Camel, Habib Habab as in corn on the cob, or bob for apples) is a talking camel from the Middle East with a job of collecting debt. It is unknown whether his job involves actually collecting debt or scamming people. His Middle Eastern accent seems to suggest the latter as that is a common stereotype which SML is no stranger to. He is known to be friendly to Jeffy and Charleyyy, but it is unknown what his affiliation with Mario is. He also rhymes when he talks sometimes, usually rhyming using his name. He is also the father of Heidi, and possibly of Scooter as a temporary adoptive relative.
He is a debt collector, Polaroid tech support worker and was a customer support employee for Goodman at the Super Stretchy Spider-Man Company. Later, he worked as a tech support agent for the D*ck Internet Company. He was thought to be one of the workers for Brooklyn T. Guy at Geico; however, that was not him, but rather the Hump Day Camel, a lookalike and possible relative of his who is portrayed with the same puppet. This look able of his kept annoying Brooklyn T. Guy on Wednesday with his catchphrase "Hump Day!".
He became a recurring character in Season 12 for the replacement of Brooklyn Guy or even Simmons and is currently a minor character for the series.
History[]
He has been spotted in the woods and it is unknown whether he lives there (although that's not likely), or that he is a friend of Jeffy trying to help out. He seems to struggle with most tasks which he blames on his "hoof" and because of this, he only puts the bare minimum effort into most tasks.
A cameo video starring him reveals that his address is 1874 Camel Hump Way, and another cameo video showed that his name is indeed Cameel Habib Habab, when previously, people would think it's Kamil Habib Habob, which is, of course, incorrect.
He is also a Charleyyy and Friends fan, which was seen in "Jeffy and Junior's Big Heist!" where he tried to win Charleyyy's underwear by saying that he loves him as much as a camel loves water (however it is possible that he lied and only wanted his underwear). His debut reveals he is also a fan of the New England Patriots, and he considers Tom Brady a traitor for going to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In "Say Cheese and Bye!", it is revealed that he works as a tech support technician for a polaroid camera company.
It is later revealed in "Brooklyn Guy's Dad!" that he is also a taxi driver, possibly as a nod to the stereotype of most New York City taxi drivers being of Middle Eastern descent.
Personality[]
Cameel Habib Habab is a stereotypical depiction of a Middle Eastern technical support technician/scammer. Cameel Habib Habab does not seem to feel a wide arrange of emotions strongly, and seems tranquil, controlled and lazy. He is also helpful, which was revealed in Jeffy Gets Stuck! when he tries to help Jeffy. It was revealed in "Scooter's Parents!" that he is a caring father and can be quite turbulent when something bad happens to her, like most people would. Despite his helpfulness, he is a quitter, again shown in Jeffy Gets Stuck! when he gives up after pushing a tree log for three seconds. He does appear sinister if he is a scammer, and not just a debt collector. He does get annoyed, however, as shown when Mario couldn't understand him in Black Yoshi's Big Bamboozle! He also appears to have an obsession with doorknobs, as his catchphrase, which is also heard in his cameo videos, is "You need to make a payment on your doorknobs!". As revealed in "The Redo Button!", Cameel uses the word "camel" instead of the N-word when it is intended for him to say it. In "Scooter's Parents!", he felt remorse for his daughter after she went missing and even went to Mario's house to find her after the latter called him. Cameel is gullible as when he received his daughter from Mario, it was actually Scooter. He also tends to repeat everything he said from a long conversation when someone asks him to start again. When somebody tries to stop him from repeating, his raises his voice to be heard. Possibly to annoy them. Nothing, not even saying "Shut Up" would get him to stop talking.
Trivia[]
- According to "Black Yoshi's Big Bamboozle!", his name means "Cameel as in camel, and Habib Habab as in corn on the cob".
- In “Jeffy's Broken Laptop!,” instead of “corn on the cob” he said, “bob for apples.” This is possibly because the video was filmed in October.
- The puppet is an 18-inch Folkmanis Camel Puppet from 2013.
- Some people confuse him for the Hump Day Camel.
- Although most call center workers are commonly depicted as Muslim, Cameel Habib Habab himself is Jewish, implying that he might be of Mizrahi (Middle Eastern/Oriental) Jewish descent.
- At one point, a new puppet for Cameel was made by Juniper in the same style as their other puppets for SML. This puppet was never used for Cameel himself, nor can be bought on SML Merch, likely because Logan preferred Cameel's existing puppet. This puppet can be seen in "SNEAK PEEK OF NEW SML PUPPETS!!!" on Lance's channel, and made an appearance in The Halloween Purge! as Junior's costume.
