"Bowser Junior Goes To The Sun!" is the 224th episode of SML Movies.
Synopsis[]
Bowser Junior is invited by NASA to be the first person to land on the sun.
Plot[]
The video starts with Junior watching the space channel, a channel that broadcasts nothing but space 24/7, until he heard that if he makes a really good space video, NASA will see if the video is good, and it will appear on the network's next episode.
When Junior finally finishes the video, Joseph and Cody come to visit (since they were around the neighborhood). Junior explains to his friends about the contest until Cody gets mad and says once again that the sun is a star, and both Joseph and Junior argue with Cody. Junior tells Cody to watch the video, titled "Junior's Trip to the Sun". The video was comprised of Legos, with Junior as a Lego astronaut, riding a Lego spaceship, and riding it to the Lego sun. Throughout the video, he explains that the sun is indeed a planet and that it's not a star other people are saying. Near the end of the video, Junior makes a 'successful' landing on the sun, which was a yellow Lego platform, and the astronaut does a 'sun dance', comprised of leg-kicking and push-ups.
When Joseph and Cody watch the end of the video, Joseph said "it was genius," but Cody on the other hand went against it, asking if there was a part of the video where Junior was burning. Cody argues that the sun is 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit but was shot down for it being 'too much college'. Cody puts it in 'stupid people terms' for Junior, but Junior points out that the astronaut landed safely on the sun. Unable to convince that it was made of Legos, Cody requested Junior to play it again so he can voice over it. In Cody's version, the astronaut explains that he's gonna die by going to the sun. After blastoff, the rocket makes it to the sun, where it lands and starts burning, the video showing the astronaut and the space shuttle burning on a grill.
Joseph and Junior stated it's depressing, but Cody expresses that it's what would really happen if Junior made it to the sun. This argument goes nowhere, and it causes Cody to leave in a huff. After a few minutes, Brooklyn T. Guy, who was representing NASA, comes to Junior's house, saying that he won the video contest. Brooklyn T. Guy agrees with Junior's theory that the sun is round like a planet so that makes it a planet. Brooklyn T. Guy tells Junior that NASA will give him a space shuttle so he can prove once and for all that sun is a planet, complete with a form. After a few suggestions from Joseph, Junior ends up naming his space shuttle Octopus. Brooklyn T. Guy said that he will be waiting in Cape Canaveral for tomorrow. After the talk with NASA, Cody was invited back by Junior, where rubbed in his face that NASA gave Junior a space shuttle so he can get to the sun, giving his form he got as evidence. Junior then asked his friends to leave so he can reflect before going to the sun.
After these events, Goodman appears in the news, informing about Junior going to the Sun, and questioning the fact that the sun is either a star or a planet. At Cape Canaveral, Junior is psyched to be going to the sun, but Cody angrily insists that he's gonna burn up before he even makes it to the sun. Junior refuses to listen and tells them that they will see them in a week. Cody doesn't believe it, but Junior insists that the distance isn't that far. Junior announces that he'll give Joseph some Sunkist and Cody sun rocks as souvenirs. Cody shouts to Junior "Have fun burning to death!"
Then, the scene cuts to Cape Canaveral with Junior in the space shuttle preparing to take off to the sun. Although he has a bumpy ride along the way up, he still maintains his confidence. After some time, Junior leaves the atmosphere and heads toward the sun. Cody is left in disbelief, but Joseph is psyched. Brooklyn T. Guy tells Junior that he's going to activate 'supersonic boom supremo fast mode', which will get Junior to the sun fast.
Back home, Cody makes the connection of why Junior named his space shuttle Octopus, because it has eight arms and there's planets in the solar system. Joseph tries to correct him that there are ten planets, and that he's neglecting the sun and Pluto, insisting that Joseph will prove it when he comes back.
On the news, Junior is nearing the sun's atmosphere. Although it's hot, Junior is still maintaining confidence. Junior is finally about to land on the sun, and he shouts, "I'm gonna be the first person to land on the-", only to explode. Everyone is left horrified of what happened. Goodman announces that they have lost feed of Octopus, because of it exploding. Back home, Cody confidently sits back, knowing that he was right, and Joseph starts understanding that there are really eight planets in the solar system. Goodman gets word of Brooklyn T. Guy holding a conference at NASA, and the news cuts to him.
At the conference, Brooklyn T. Guy addresses the space shuttle exploding before it reached the sun. He tells the viewers that the sun is truly not a planet. It turns out that the original plan was to get Bowser Junior off Earth since his quote "The sun is a planet", was thought to be the stupidest thing Brooklyn Guy ever heard, so he decided to send Junior to the sun to kill him and get him out of existence. He knows it costs billions of dollars, but he thinks it's still worth it in the end. He ends the conference without questions.

Trivia[]
- This is the first SML Movie to support 1080p HD.
- In his reaction video, Logan says that he spent more than $1000 on NASA Stock footage.
- In a livestream, Logan revealed that the original ending was going to be the rocket successfully landing on the sun, Junior doing the sun dance and returning a few days later. Unfortunately, the scene was omitted and replaced by the rocket exploding when it hit the sun due to Logan having a deadline to upload the video so he couldn't make the scene in time.
- This is the twelfth time Junior dies in a SML video.
- The video is the end of using the sun is a planet joke. However, it was later proven false in "The Test!".
- Although unconfirmed by Logan, the episode is likely a 800,000 subscriber special.
- This episode reveals that Junior has some skill in creating and editing professional quality videos.
- The Lego Space Shuttle from "The Christmas Special!" and "Bowser Junior's Credit Card!" is used once more.
- This was the last SML video to use the light blue News Channel design.
- The ground loop for the Space Shuttle launch is the voice of Steve Nesbitt, Public Affairs Officer for NASA in the 1980s, during the launch of the first Space Shuttle mission, STS-1, on April 12, 1981.
- Joseph mentioning Sea Dragon as a possible name selection for Junior's space shuttle may be a reference to the proposed Sea Dragon rocket concept, a sea-launched 2-stage super-heavy lift rocket.
- The launch of Octopus is a combination of both actual footage of a shuttle launch and CGI animation, created by Logan.
- Since the events of this episode are mentioned in "Mistaken", this video is actually canon, in spite of Junior dying at the end of the video.
- This episode was uploaded eight years after "THE BAGEL SONG!!!".
- If the viewers look closely, the letter says this:
"Dear Junior, after a thorough examination of your video of the Sun being a planet, the astronauts and scientists here at NASA feel that you are on to something. We have conducted numerous astronomical experiments and we found that it plausible for an individual to travel to the Sun. We found this data to be so outstanding that we would like to offer you the only position aboard the first space shuttle as it makes it's first journey to the Sun. Congratulations on your findings. Thank you, Best Regards, NASA Man."
- The SML question in this episode was later reused in "Junior Goes To The Moon!".
Errors[]
- At 8:27 and 8:28, Junior and Joseph both pronounced flame retardant as "flame retarded", although it was purposely done for a joke.
- In real life, the Space Shuttle was not designed to leave low Earth orbit.
- The Space Shuttle Orbiters and Space Shuttle Program ceased operations in 2011.
